Buckeye Blake
Buckeye is so through a westerner, that
it would never occur to mention it to him. His father was
a rodeo cowboy who eventually worked for the Arizona Border
Patrol, and his Great Grandfather, S. Coke Blake, was one
of the pioneer breeders of Quarter Horses.
Buckeye has lived in Nevada, California,
Montana, Idaho and now Texas. In the west, there is no
livlier testimonial to regional, figurative expression
than the art of Buckeye Blake.
United with a technique that exudes
a kinetic vitality, a compelling wit and an unfettered
whimsical style. Blake's paintings, sculptures and decorative
work are transfused with life.
As a true son of the west, he is a reflection
of regional characteristics, while his art is an equal
reflection of Blake, the man.
Blake is in numerous private collections,
museums and galleries. His show, Art
on the Western Front a Retrospective, at the Whitney
Gallery of Western Art in Cody, Wyoming, was well recognized
by the art world.
His sculpture as well as his paintings
can be commissioned. His work is shown at Big Horn Gallery
in Cody, The Cowboy Legacy Gallery in Cave Creek, Arizona
and his own studio in Weatherford, Texas. Please feel
free to contact him about art, life or the cowboy way. |
